“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27
Kurdish Christians, Iranian Christians, and Chinese Christians – Remember Ministries is currently working on 11 separate refugee sponsorship applications for 27 refugees. We are partnering with churches in three different cities in several different provinces.
But God is leading us to do even more than refugee sponsorship. I will share one story.
“I have a dream, Jenny. A dream for theological training,” my friend confided in me online. What made this conversation unusual is that my friend is a refugee.
After years of persecution and intimidation, after forced exile from her home country, after years of seeking asylum along with her family, this woman still dreams about serving her people and spreading the gospel. She dreams of theological training.
There are many reasons why this dream is remarkable. As a young mother, as a woman, as a refugee, as a member of a marginalized people group even within her culture, as a person without legal status in her current country and under threat of deportation, without financial resources of any kind, what courage and faith it takes to nurture such a dream!
When she told me, my heart quickened. After praying, I reached out to someone and shared her dream. A miracle happened. Within a matter of 3 weeks, through the support of Tom Albinson, president of IAFR (International Association for Refugees), and Dr George Kalantzis, professor at Wheaton College, my friend began online theological training!!
After God spread my friend’s dream to my own heart and then to the hearts of Tom and George, a two year theological course for refugees was born and opened up to include five more refugees – in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The dreams God puts in our hearts are always about more than just us. They impact the world.
What dreams has God put in your own heart? At Remember Ministries, we believe in dreams. We believe in the power of God to do impossibly big things through His children and through our simple steps of obedience.
