Private Sponsorship Spaces Reduced for 2026

globe and multi coloured hands

The Canadian government has significantly reduced the number of private refugee sponsorship spaces allocated to Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs) for 2026, as part of its broader mandate to lower national immigration levels. As a result, SAHs across the country are facing unprecedented limitations, with very few sponsorship spaces available this year.

While this reality is deeply discouraging, we remain hopeful. We are praying earnestly and actively petitioning the government for an increased allocation of sponsorship spaces in 2027. At the same time, we continue to faithfully support, advocate for, and serve the nearly 100 refugees who are currently under our care. We ask God for wisdom, discernment, and guidance in every sponsorship we are able to undertake during this challenging season.

Now more than ever, the Church in Canada is called to remember our brothers and sisters who are suffering—as Scripture reminds us—to suffer with them. Many refugees around the world are living in fear and uncertainty as countries move to deport individuals back to places where their lives may be at serious risk. For countless families, these days are filled with darkness, danger, and despair.

We invite you to pray for refugees who remain in vulnerable and life-threatening situations. Please also pray for our ministry, that we would be strengthened and encouraged as we continue to serve those in need. Your prayers, support, and advocacy matter deeply in this time.

Together, may we remain steadfast in compassion, faithful in prayer, and committed to walking alongside those who need hope the most.

"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." ~ 1 JOHN 1:5
